Trick or Treat?

Sometimes the best cure when you're in a rut can be just simply food. However, there is such a plethora of therapeutic edibles out there nowadays, that given the innumerable choices, the consumer finds himself encumbered with another burden of making a decision. Not to worry. Although October is a fickle month as it holds on to summer's excesses while it takes on fall's mysteries, it does offer one solace--pumpkin.

A strange fruit/vegetable to say the least, it hides itself from the grocery shelves for nine months only to resurface for three months during the year.

In its sneaky resurrection, it beguiles us with fun festivities such as Halloween but its true magic does not appear in carved-out personas, but in little treasures such as pumpkin chowder, pumpkin ravioli, pumpkin pie, etc. A mere sampling of any of these delectable delights can turn any disenchanted soul into their own fairy godmother with the power to ride off rut-free into the night on a "pumpkin carriage".

(I recommend: Pumpkin Chowder from Au Bon Pain)

On repeat:

Antony and the Johnsons - Hope There's Someone
(a beautiful song from last year for those lonely fall nights...vocals are just chilling)

Blue in Green - Miles Davis
(coffee music is just ideal sometimes...isn't it?)

Voxtrot - The Start Of Something
(changing the pace, another gem from my favorite band right now...once this song hits 2:56 and the song slows down with the strings coming in, it's just blissful)

On a sour note: Guggenheim was too packed on Friday, and Herman and I didn't get in despite waiting an hour. (line was 4 blocks long!) Next month!
